Mattole Valley Historical Society board member, local historian and archaeologist Jamie Roscoe presents 'A Brief Ethnohistory of the Mattole'. Hear how his understanding has broadened and deepened over time since his first 1985 writing on this subject. Working closely with representatives of the local tribes, he has completed cultural resource management investigations on over 600 project areas in Humboldt County and Northern California.

A Brief Ethnohistory of the Mattole

The presentation is by HCHS past president, archaeologist and lecturer at Cal Poly Humboldt and College of the Redwoods, Jamie Roscoe.
Roscoe founded the Cultural Resources Facility at HSU which provides assistance to state, federal and local agencies, tribes and private entities on a variety of cultural resource investigations. Mr. Roscoe is a past president of the Humboldt County Historical Society and a Board member of the Mattole Valley Historical Society.
