Family Literacy Night is sponsored by First 5 Humboldt and hosted by the Humboldt Literacy Project. The mission of the Literacy Project is to provide Humboldt County adults the literacy skills they need to function on the job, in the family, and in the community. The Literacy Project offers free and confidential services to all adults 16 years and over. For details, call the Humboldt Literacy Project at 445-3655.

A master storyteller with a voice like buttered honey, Baba Jamal Koram will tell stories from the African tradition and from his own life that speak to the truth in all of our hearts. Baba Jamal enhances his stories with his Mbira, drumming and audience participation. He has been a featured storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival, the Smithsonian, and Kennedy Center, and has received the Circle of Excellence Oracle Award from the National Storytelling Network and the Zora Neale Hurston Award from the National Association of Black Storytelling. Bring your friends and family to enjoy stories to together.
