1:00 p.m. Eureka Library, Historical Lecture, Jerry Rohde Tells of a Bair, 50 Mules, & the Moon

Saturday, September 7, 2019

Tom Bair, 1844-1916, was a human dynamo who went from a boyhood working on a pack train to owning one, then owning ranches on Redwood Creek and Maple Creek, and more. Charlie Moon chose to work for him, and thereby hangs a tale. Your favorite local historian and raconteur, Jerry Rohde, offers an illustrated talk on the life and times of Charlie Moon. Tom Bair, and Bair's many (actually more than 50) mules.

A bearded Jerry Rohde goes to one knee amid a hillside covered in lupin blossom. Tom Bair's mules carried barrels & boxes of goods destined for Northern California towns.
