1:00 p.m. Eureka Library, Historical Lecture, Between a Rock & a Hard Place with Paul Woodland

Saturday, January 5, 2019

In Northern California, a novice explorer is unwittingly set adrift in the turbulent waters of the Klamath River during the Flood of 1964, while an experienced Kentucky cave explorer finds himself stuck between a rock and a hard place during the “Cave Wars” of 1925. These two characters gripped the public’s attention in their eras, then faded from sight....that is, until now, when Paul Woodland, a local practitioner of the oral tradition, returns these two fabled adventurers to their rightful place in American folklore. You are invited to hear the riveting tales of W. F. Collins (spelunker) and Bahamas (navigator), two famous explorers who are once again the talk of the town, and rightfully so.

Paul Woodland, eyes wide, at a crucial point in a tale.
