Humboldt County Historical Society lecture programs are held at 1:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month (except February, July, August, and usually not in December - this is an exception!). These popular lecture programs occasionally fill up, so if you'd like to be assured of a seat, free tickets are available at the door starting at noon.

Peggy Wheeler will tell the story of Humboldt’s only known female lighthouse keeper. Sarah Johnson began tending the Humboldt Harbor Lighthouse in 1857 as a widow with a newborn baby and five other children.
