1:00 p.m. Eureka Library, Historical Lecture, Jerry Rohde on Redwoods

Saturday, October 6, 2018

In celebration of the centennial year of the Save the Redwoods League, here's a historical look at pristine places and pivotal events that were part of the movement’s early history. Learn how a trio of timely telegrams helped save the world’s most famous grove of redwoods, how a pair of floods caused an entire town to become part of a state redwood park, and see some of the most striking scenery to be found anywhere. Join us for this tree-mendous event.

From them comes silence and awe.
It's not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color
which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no,
they are not like any trees we know, they
are ambassadors from another time.
