Month of December, Arcata Library. Make A Salt Dough Ornament (Drop in During Open Hours)
Monday, December 11, 2023
Salt dough is a simple way to make a handmade ornament that looks like a cookie! There are salt dough and decoration bits waiting for you at the Arcata library. Press a cookie cutter into a patted-flat piece of dough and decorate to make a take-and-bake ornament.
Salt Dough Ornaments
Pat your dough nice and thin, use the cookie cutter you choose, and decorate. Make a hole for stringing.
Take them home to bake at 200 degrees for 2 hours. They are beautiful and will last for years!
Want to make your own dough for more ornaments?
Mix 1 cup of white flour, 1/2 cup of salt, and 1/2 cup of water and knead until smooth. Roll it to about 1/8 of an inch thick. Bake as above.
Do keep salt dough ornaments away from pets that might be attracted to the salt and the toasty flour smell.
