This series of events honors local veterans and celebrates the role creative arts can have in helping people moving from military to civilian life. Today's event includes the run, music, ceramics, and painting opportunities, plus free barbecue, provided by the Arcata Veterans Hall American Legion Post 274.

Saturday November 11, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

5k and 10k run at McKay Community Forest,  3100 Harris Street Eureka 

Veteran Affairs Community Connections Fair at the Humboldt Cider Company at Redwoods Acres.  Art-making, live music, BBQ and pickleball. Ceramic artist Ehren Tool of UC Berkeley (US Marines), other artists, and professors and students from Cal Poly Humboldt Ceramics offer a free cup-making workshop. 


Monday Evening, November 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM

Ceramics Demo, College of the Redwoods Creative Arts room 106

Ceramic artist Jessica Putnam Phillips demonstrates and discusses her work for the Adult & Continuing Education Veterans Ceramics Class with CR alumnus Joe Fox. Pullman says "art allows me to create a conversation between the viewer and the maker, raising awareness about veterans and their issues. My work specifically looks at service, gender roles and identity. I served in the USAF from 1995-2003."
