Volunteers are Vital to the Library

On a daily basis, volunteers act as docents to assist researchers in the Humboldt Room, shelve books, assist with children's programs, prepare materials for book sales, staff the Serendipity Bookstore, raise funds, and help with a variety of special projects. The library enjoys the help of over 170 volunteers system-wide.

Tax Help Volunteers

Apply to the VITA Program in November

On a seasonal basis, volunteers are needed to help people file their taxes. The Library partners with United Way of the Wine Country to make sure that there is reliable tax help for  Humboldt County residents who need it.

Volunteer sign-up starts in November. Volunteers get a really good training course and will work with an experienced mentor. You may volunteer as a VITA Tax Assistant or as a greeter. More information about volunteering with the VITA Tax Assistance program.
