Signs are utilized by the community for individual, residential, commercial, industrial, and public service uses. Signs can support many forms of advertising that benefit businesses and local events. Although, when located in sensitive areas there may be significant impacts. The Planning and Building Department aims to utilize the public process to create a draft regulation that meets the needs of the whole community in the unincorporated areas of Humboldt County for presentation to the Board of Supervisors.
The draft ordinance includes amendments to Chapter 4 Section 314-87.2 of the Zoning Ordinance which governs Signs and Nameplates, proposing edits to the ordinance and additions including principally permitted uses, updated permit requirements, and the addition of an Off-Premise Sign (Billboard) ordinance.
