ADU Approved Standard Plans

Overview

The Humboldt County Planning and Building Department implemented a Standard Plan Program to provide the public a simplified permitting process for the design and construction of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). Under the Standard Plan Program, plans are either made available by the Humboldt County Planning and Building Department or by a private party. All plans have been reviewed for compliance with the 2019 California Building Standards Code. The plans owned by Humboldt County are available free of charge. Plans owned by the listed design firm may be purchased directly from the plan owner.

Standard plans reduce the cost, uncertainty and time of the design and permitting of an ADU. Details on the process of using one of the Standard Plans may be found on the Application, Permit Issuance and Inspection page.
