How Long Can I Keep the items I Check Out?

The standard loan period is 28 days, with the following exceptions:

  • Highly requested items are loaned for 7 to 14 days, depending on length.
  • Audio and video items are loaned for 7 to 14 days, depending on format (see below.)
  • Holiday items in season are loaned for 7 days.
  • Magazines are loaned for 7 days.
  • Loan periods at certain library branches may vary.

Borrowing Limits:  How Many Items Can I Have at One Time?

You may view a list of items that are checked out to you at any time.   Choose “View Your Record” from the library home page and enter your library bar code number.

  • There is no limit on the number of books that can be checked out at one time.
Audio & Video Loan Periods are Limited as Follows:
  • No limit on VHS videos for 7 days
  • 4 DVDs for 7 days
  • 4 compact discs for 7 days
  • 2 language sets for 14 days
  • 4 audio books on CD for 14 days
  • From the Main Library's collection, no limit on books on tape for 14 days
  • From Branch Library collections, 4 audio books total for 14 days, whether on tape or CD.
