2023 Open Enrollment
2023 Open Enrollment is September 19th, 2022 through October 14th, 2022.
- This is the time to make changes to Add, Drop or Change coverage for yourself or any qualified dependent.
- If you do nothing, your health insurance coverage and voluntary benefits will automatically renew.
Exception: Flexible Spending Accounts must be renewed annually (information is provided below).
The effective date of all Open Enrollment transactions is January 1, 2023
- Note: Because we pay our health insurance a month ahead, premiums will change for everyone in December.

- We will make every effort to schedule your appointment when it is convenient for you, so please contact us at your earliest convenience. Please note that we will only schedule your appointment once you know the specific changes you intend to make.
Opt Out Annual Verification will occur on October 24, 2022 - November 18, 2022.

FSA (Flexible Spending Account)
- All FSA enrollees must renew their plan during open enrollment each year to keep their account current.

How to Enroll
- Enroll Online by 10/14/2022
- You will be making your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) elections online using our WealthCare Portal.
- To begin the Online Enrollment process, please navigate to: www.amben.com/enroll

Voluntary Benefits
- Farmington supplies additional coverage for cancer, life, pet insurance and more. Enrollments can be completed by contacting a Farmington Representative at 800-621-0067.
- The county does not administer these plans. Please contact Farmington at the number above for questions and enrollment.
- Enrollments for the Voluntary Benefits must be completed by NOON on Friday, October 14th, 2022.
Opting Out Requires Annual Verification of Other Coverage
The Opt Out Annual Verification will occur after Open Enrollment.
- If you are currently opting out of health insurance through the County of Humboldt, annual verification of other health insurance coverage will be required in order to continue to receive the Opt Out differential payment for calendar year 2022. However, you will be notified via County email (or US Mail if you do not have County email) when that process begins and will be given ample time to submit your proof of other coverage.
- Please Note: If you enrolled in the Opt Out for the first time on or after June 1, 2022, verification of health insurance coverage will not be required until next calendar year.

- Have you gotten married, had or adopted children, or gotten divorced since you were hired? If you didn’t update your enrollment, your dependents may not yet be covered.
- You can add a spouse/registered domestic partner/children to your coverage starting the first of the month following our receipt of a completed, revised enrollment form!

- Employees are eligible to enroll in a Deferred Compensation Plan (457b) through Empower. Empower can assist employees with discussion of investment choices, retirement goals and schedule individual appointments with employees.
