Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee (VAAC)

What is the Humboldt County Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee (VAAC)?

The Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee, or VAAC, is required for implementation of the Voter’s Choice Act. The purpose of the Committee is to:

  • Advise and assist the Registrar of Voters with implementation of the Voter’s Choice Act relating to access for voters with disabilities.
  • Advise the Registrar of Voters on potential barriers to participation for voters with disabilities.
  • Advise the Registrar of Voters on effective strategies to serve voters with disabilities needing assistance or services, as required by state or federal election law.
  • Advise and/or assist the Registrar of Voters in establishing community partnerships that may facilitate serving voters with disabilities.
