Outreach
Community Outreach
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to giving back to our community with Engagement and Service being two of our core values. The Sheriff's Office participates in dozens of charitable programs each year, raising money for local organizations and members of our community. See below for more information on how you can take part!
Our Causes
Below is a list of some of the charitable causes in which the Sheriff's Office participates. This is not a complete list. We are always open to new ideas on how we can give back to our community. If you have a cause you'd like the HSCO to consider, please contact our Public Information Officer at skarges1@co.humboldt.ca.us..
Adopt a Family
Each Christmas the Sheriff's Office participates in the Salvation Army's Adopt a Family. Staff uses their own money to purchase gifts for families selected.
Battle of the Badges Blood Drive

Bowl For Kids Sake
Each year HCSO staff participate in Bowl for Kids Sake, a fundraiser bowling competition organized by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Coast.

The HCSO regularly participates in Coffee with a Cop around the county. Upcoming events are announced on our Facebook page.
Kid's Christmas Card Contest
New to the HCSO, the Sheriff's Office is holding a Kid's Christmas Card Contest with the winner being selected as the Sheriff's Office's official artwork for our annual holiday card.
Mental Health Matters Month

No Shave November
Every November, Sheriff's Office staff participates in No Shave November, raising money for support programming for local at-risk youth. Staff pays $30 to grow out their beards or dye their hair/paint their nails blue. All funds raised are traditionally donated to CASA and Wild Souls Ranch.
Operation Santa Paws
New to the HCSO, the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office and the Humboldt County Animal Shelter have organized Operation Santa Paws, a collection drive for toys, treats and supplies for local shelter and rescue animals. The Sheriff's Office teamed up with Safeway, Redway Feed and Nor Cal Pet Supply to collect donations from the community.
Public Safety Sunday
Once a year, the Sheriff's Office plans a free public safety fair where members of the community can come meet public safety personnel and explore the equipment used to help save lives.
Pink Patch Project
New to the HCSO, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, deputies are able to purchase pink patches to wear during the month of October. In 2020, we also sold pink patch stickers to the community. All funds raised are donated to the Humboldt Breast and GYN Health Project.
