By Automobile
The Eureka Main Library is just off Highway 101 as it passes through town. From 101 South (i.e., 4th Street) turn right on P Street (or on the diagonal street, Myrtle Avenue) to reach the library in just 1 block.
From 101 North (5th Street) turn left at the I Street traffic light, proceed 2 blocks, then turn right on 3rd Street and proceed about 5 more blocks to reach the library parking lot.
By Bus
Take the bus! The Eureka Transit Service and Redwood Transit buses both stop near the Eureka Main Library.
Redwood Transit, Northbound
Redwood Transit buses heading north stop at 5th and O streets in Eureka. It's a walk of 4 or 5 blocks to the library, crossing the highway at both 4th and 5th. There are crosswalks, but no traffic lights at those intersections. Each features 3 lanes of fast-moving one-way traffic. It is not an easy crossing.
Redwood Transit, Southbound
Heading south the stop is located at 4th and Q. The walk from 4th and Q is short and easy, about 3 blocks, crossing smaller streets at crosswalks. This southbound stop may be listed as 5th and O, the former Greyhound Station, on your paper bus schedule. However, it is located at 4th and Q.
The closest city bus stops now are ETS Purple Route stops at 6th and O, at 2nd and L and at 3rd and T.
The 2nd and L stop means a walk of perhaps 3 blocks on quiet streets to reach the library. One block of this route goes up a fairly steep hill (from the bus stop to the Carson mansion).
The 3rd and T stop is about 5 blocks from the library with no hill, and you have to cross the busy R street. There is a crosswalk and a center island.
The 6th and O stop means a walk of 4 or 5 blocks to the library, crossing the highway at both 4th and 5th. There are crosswalks but no traffic lights at those intersections. Each features 3 lanes of fast-moving one-way traffic. It is not an easy crossing.
