Accessible Machines & Services

The Humboldt County Office of Elections is committed to providing the most accessible voting opportunities to all voters in Humboldt County by providing services to increase access and encourage participation by voters with special needs.

Accessible Voting System

Each polling place in the county has an accessible voting machine that offers:

  • Ballot marking.
  • Adjustable audio.
  • Touch screen and limited dexterity buttons.
  • Adjustable font size and contrast.

Accessible Booths, Machines, and Devices

All polling places offer an accessible voting booth and an accessible ballot marking machine to enable voters with special needs the opportunity to cast their ballots privately and independently. Polling places offer accessible devices to help people read a paper ballot, grasp a pen, and sign their name.

Accessible Parking and Paths of Travel

All polling places have been surveyed for accessibility. Wherever possible, measures have been taken to mitigate potential barriers and increase accessibility. Mitigation measures used may include directional signs, temporary ramps, threshold mats, cones, and creating temporary van accessible parking spaces.
