Older Adult Falls Prevention

The Older Adult Falls Prevention Program collaborates with community partners to further the goal of reducing falls among older adults and provides free classes for older adults utilizing three evidence-based programs:

Bingocize ®
Bingocize

Bingocize combines the game of bingo with falls prevention exercises and health information.
  • Currently offered virtually via Zoom
  • 1-hour class, twice per week for 10 weeks
  • two to three prize winners per class
  • Good for older adults at all ability levels.

A Matter of BalanceMatter of Balance

A Matter of Balance combines light exercises with practical strategies to manage falls.

  • Currently offered virtually via Zoom
  • 2-hour class, once per week for eight weeks.

You will learn to:

  • View falls as controllable
  • Set goals for increasing activity
  • Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
  • Exercise to increase strength and balance.

Tai Chi for Arthritis

Tai Chi for Arthritis

Tai Chi for Arthritis incorporates exercises that improve balance, muscular strength, flexibility and fitness.

  • 1-hour class, once per week for 10 weeks
  • Based on Sun style Tai Chi
  • Can be practiced standing or seated
  • Improves balance, strength, flexibility and fitness
  • Has been shown to decrease pain, improve brain health and reduce falls.
