6:30 p.m. Fortuna Library Family Film, When Marnie Was There.

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

This film won Best Animated Feature Film at the 2015 Chicago Animated Film Festival. It's a tale of mystery, dreams, and friendship -- and a foster child coming to acceptance of her new family. Anna, a Japanese girl who does not know from whom she has inherited her blue eyes, meets Marnie first in her dreams and then near a mysterious ruined mansion. The two girls share troubles and adventures before Marnie disappears as mysteriously as she came. Was Marnie ever real? As Anna unravels the mystery of Marnie, she discovers truths about her own history that help her come to terms with herself.

Image, two girls hold hands, back to back, while standing in shallow surf.
