You may place a hold request on any item in any branch of the
Humboldt County Library. (This does not include reference materials,
since they are for in-library use only.) You can reserve an item
yourself by using the online catalog, or ask a Reference Librarian to place your hold. You will need your library card.
You may have a total of 4 hold requests at any one time.
To use the online catalog to place a hold request, first find the title you want in the catalog. When you can see the location of the item and whether it is checked out, you can also see a "Request" button.
The Request button is at the top of the page when you are looking at a page showing just one item. When you are looking at a whole list of items, for example all the books by a particular author, the Request button is on the right hand side of the page, so that you can select the book or other item you want.
