The Humboldt County Fire Safe Council (FSC) provides oversight for grant programs as funding becomes available. Funding is actively sought for activities that further the implementation of the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
Current active programs include the following:

Fire-adapted Landscapes and Safe Homes (FLASH) - The FLASH program is funded by a United Sates Forest Service grant through the California Fire Safe Council. The program provides a cost share to assist property owners with the job of reducing their risk to wildfire by thinning flammable vegetation around their homes and along their access routes.

Firewise - The Humboldt County Firewise Program provides assistance for local communities interested in receiving recognition and support from the national Firewise Communities Program. The National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA’s) Firewise Communities Program encourages local solutions for safety by involving homeowners in taking individual responsibility for preparing their homes from the risk of wildfire.

Title III Funding - Periodically the FSC will oversee the distribution of Title III funding in the form of small grants to local organizations to assist with Firewise activities and the development of local CWPPs. This program is active as funding becomes available. Contact the FSC Coordinator for details.
